The
remediation being performed by the GEMS Trust is performed under EPA
and NJDEP oversight. At the GEMS Landfill, EPA is the lead agency and
NJDEP is the support agency.
The GEMS Trust submitted Progress Reports each month during the
construction phase to the EPA with copies to the
NJDEP. During the ongoing
long-term O&M phase, Progress Reports are now submitted each quarter,
starting in September 2006. The Progress Reports serve to inform and
document to the regulatory agencies any actions taken by the GEMS Trust
in completion of the work they are conducting, and any actions that they
plan to take in the coming months.
